in political terms.

How can I, that girl standing there, 
My attention fix
On Roman or on Russian
Or on Spanish politics? 
Yet here's a travelled man that knows
What he talks about, 
And there's a politician
That has read and thought, 
And maybe what they say is true
Of war and war's alarms, 
But O that I were young again
And held her in my arms!

En nuestra época el destino de hombre presenta

su significado en términos políticos.

¿Cómo voy a entender yo

a la situación política 

rusa, española o romana, 

si está delante esa chica?

Pero sabe de qué habla 

este hombre tan viajado;

y ese de allí, que es político, 

ha leído y ha pensado, 

y acertarán al hablar

de la guerra y sus alarmas, 

pero qué daría yo

por ser joven y abrazarla.
